Carbon Fiber Electronics Tray — main product reference

Designing a UAV Electronics Tray Enquiry: Access Comes First

Application Engineering / Purchasing guide

At a glance

An electronics tray needs a clear equipment layout and service-access plan. Provide the actual board or enclosure geometry, connector positions, cable routes and mounting hardware. A supplier can then review the component definition without assuming where the electronics will be installed or how the assembly will be serviced.

Build an interface map

Show the installed positions of the equipment and the mounting pattern for each item. Mark connectors, cable-entry areas and any locations that must remain unobstructed. Identify whether the supplier is providing an empty tray, installed inserts or an assembled subcomponent; these are different scopes of work.

Review materials and isolation requirements

Ask the responsible electronics and mechanical designers to specify any required separation, isolation or interface treatment. Put the approved requirements on the drawing. Do not assume a surface coating or an attractive laminate appearance provides the electrical or environmental protection an application needs.

Check maintenance and revision control

Explain how equipment is removed and which fasteners must remain accessible. Approve the tray with the intended equipment revision. When a board or enclosure changes, compare its mounting pattern and connector envelope before reordering the old tray under the same informal project name.

Frequently asked questions

Can a generic tray fit every electronics package?

A generic envelope does not establish mounting, access or interface compatibility.

Who should define electrical isolation needs?

The responsible system designers should define them and include them in the controlled assembly requirements.
