Tubes & Interfaces / Purchasing guide
The visible weave on a tube is an appearance feature, not a complete definition of its construction. Ask for the proposed material system, manufacturing route and relevant product documentation. When comparing tube options, keep the intended load directions and interfaces in the enquiry rather than choosing only from an attractive surface photograph.
Catalogue reference image. Confirm the quoted configuration against the agreed drawing.
Separate appearance from specification
Describe the required surface finish independently from the construction needed by the design. If a supplier proposes a roll-wrapped or pultruded tube, ask for the specification of that actual product rather than assuming the process name supplies all its properties. Published data for one supplier product should not be transferred to another tube.
Explain the intended duty
Provide the application context, support points, mating components and any engineering requirements already established by your designer. Ask the supplier to identify assumptions in the proposal. If the requirement has not yet been engineered, treat the discussion as a selection review, not as proof that a catalogue tube is suitable.
Record what was approved
Keep the product reference, material documentation and revision together with the quotation. Approve any substitution through the same review process. A change in surface appearance may or may not reflect a construction change; the documentation should answer that question without guessing from the weave.
Information to include in your enquiry

| Appearance | Finish and visible weave requirement |
| Substitution | Approval process for material or construction changes |

Frequently asked questions
Does woven appearance identify every layer?
No. Ask for the applicable construction documentation.
Can another brand’s datasheet prove this tube’s performance?
No. A datasheet applies to the identified product and stated conditions, not every visually similar tube.
Discuss your carbon fiber component
